The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCH90242 is a Dash 242 O-ring manufactured from Buna-N (nitrile butadiene rubber), the most widely used elastomer in fluid sealing applications. It measures 4 inches inside diameter, 4.25 inches outside diameter, and 0.125 inches in cross-section thickness. The compound is rated at 90 durometer, placing it in the extra-hard hardness category. This O-ring is suited for static and dynamic sealing applications where petroleum-based fluids, hydraulic oils, or fuels are present. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals routinely specify Buna-N O-rings for hydraulic fittings, valve stems, pump housings, and fluid connectors.
This O-ring fits applications requiring a Dash 242 cross-section profile and is designed for service in systems handling petroleum products, hydraulic fluid, water, and many common industrial fluids. The operating temperature range of -40 to 250 degrees F makes it appropriate for both refrigeration-adjacent low-temperature lines and moderate-temperature hydraulic circuits. It is sold in a pack of 25, making it practical for service trucks, shop stock, and maintenance kits where multiple seals are replaced at once.
Compatible with systems and components handling petroleum products, hydraulic fluids, fuels, and water. Designed as a Dash 242 standard O-ring replacement for any groove or fitting that calls out a Dash 242 cross-section profile. Not FDA approved; not recommended for food-contact or strong oxidizing fluid service. Store away from direct sunlight, ozone sources, and electrical equipment that may generate ozone.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, or hydraulic system mechanics. Depressurize and lock out the system before replacing any O-ring seal. Lubricate the O-ring lightly with a compatible fluid or O-ring lubricant before seating to prevent tearing during assembly. Inspect the groove or fitting seat for nicks, scoring, or contamination before installing the new seal.
