The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCH70118 is a Dash 118 nitrile butadiene rubber (Buna-N) O-ring designed for static and dynamic sealing applications in fluid and pneumatic systems. It measures 0.875 inches inside diameter, 1.063 inches outside diameter, and 0.0937 inches thick with a round cross section. Rated at 70 Shore A hardness, this O-ring delivers reliable compression set resistance and strong tear and abrasion resistance. It is the most widely used elastomer type for general-purpose sealing, making it a common choice for licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and maintenance professionals working with petroleum-compatible systems.
This O-ring is suited for residential and light commercial applications involving petroleum-based oils, hydraulic fluids, and fuels. It performs across a temperature range of -40 degrees F to 250 degrees F, making it appropriate for a broad range of service environments. Typical installation scenarios include valve seats, pump seals, pipe fittings, refrigeration service ports, and hydraulic line connections. It should not be stored in direct sunlight or near motors or other electrical equipment that may generate ozone, as ozone exposure degrades Buna-N elastomers.
Compatible with petroleum-based fluids and oils. Designed as a general-purpose Dash 118 O-ring replacement for valves, pumps, fittings, and hydraulic or pneumatic components requiring a 0.875 inch inside diameter seal. Not FDA approved; not recommended for food-contact or ozone-exposed environments.
O-ring replacement is typically performed by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, or hydraulic system technicians. Always depressurize and isolate the system before removing the old O-ring and inspect the groove for damage or contamination prior to installation. A light application of compatible lubricant helps seat the O-ring without twisting or rolling during assembly. Avoid overstretching the O-ring during installation, as deformation can compromise the seal.
