The VALUE COLLECTION WS-PL-SM2000005 is a melt blown, thermally bonded polypropylene cartridge filter designed for residential and light commercial water filtration systems. Rated at 5 microns, it targets sediment — including sand, silt, rust, and scale particles — before they reach downstream fixtures, appliances, or water treatment equipment. The cartridge measures 20 inches in length with a 2.48-inch outside diameter, fitting standard 20-inch filter housings. Both the media and core are constructed from polypropylene, making the cartridge compatible with a wide range of water chemistry conditions. Licensed plumbers and water treatment technicians are the primary installers.
This filter is suited for whole-house point-of-entry sediment prefiltration, well water systems, and municipal supply lines where sediment loads are a concern. It is also used ahead of reverse osmosis systems, water softeners, and UV disinfection units to protect those components from particulate fouling. The melt blown construction provides graded density filtration, capturing larger particles in the outer layers and finer particles deeper in the media for extended service life. The cartridge operates at up to 60 psi and handles water temperatures up to 176 degrees F, making it appropriate for both cold and hot water supply lines within those limits.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement cartridge for standard 20-inch filter housings that accept a 2-1/2-inch outside diameter sediment cartridge.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve line pressure before opening the filter housing. Inspect the housing O-ring for wear or cracking and lubricate it with a food-safe silicone grease before reassembly. Do not exceed the rated 60 psi operating pressure or 176 degrees F temperature limits, and follow the manufacturer housing torque guidance when hand-tightening the sump.
