The VALUE COLLECTION TEV80218 is a Dash 218 PTFE-encapsulated Viton O-ring designed for sealing applications that demand both chemical resistance and reliable elasticity. The ring features a seamless, uniform FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) Teflon encapsulation that completely encloses a Viton or silicone elastomer core. This construction delivers the chemical and temperature resistance of solid PTFE while retaining the compression set recovery of an elastomeric seal. It carries an 80 hardness rating and a round cross section. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of seal in fluid-handling systems where aggressive media or wide temperature swings would degrade standard rubber O-rings.
The TEV80218 is suited for use in plumbing, chemical process, HVAC, and industrial fluid systems where resistance to corrosive fluids, solvents, or high-temperature service is required. The operating temperature range of -75 degrees F to 400 degrees F makes it appropriate for both low-temperature refrigerant-adjacent piping and high-temperature process lines. It is sold individually and is a direct fit wherever a Dash 218 O-ring with PTFE encapsulation is specified.
Designed as a standard Dash 218 O-ring replacement for any fitting, valve, or port that specifies a 1.25-inch ID, 1.5-inch OD, 0.125-inch cross section seal with PTFE or Viton-compatible material requirements.
Shut down and depressurize the system and isolate all fluid before removing the existing seal. Inspect the groove and mating surfaces for scoring or debris that could damage the encapsulation layer during installation. Do not use petroleum-based lubricants with PTFE-encapsulated O-rings; consult the fluid system compatibility chart for an approved lubricant. Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or qualified mechanical technician in accordance with applicable system codes.
