The VALUE COLLECTION TCN39730K is a solid carbide turning insert designed for metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured to the RPG42 ANSI insert standard and ISO designation RPG120300, this round-profile insert features a titanium nitride (TiN) coating over a C5 carbide substrate. The round insert shape provides a continuous cutting edge with no corners to break down, making it well suited for finishing and light-to-medium roughing passes. At 0.5 inches inscribed circle and 0.125 inches thick, the insert seats into compatible RPG-style toolholders using a clamp-type holding method. Primary workpiece material codes M and P indicate suitability for steel and stainless steel applications.
This insert is used in both residential shop and industrial production turning environments where round-profile inserts are specified. The flat-top chip breaker geometry, positive side clearance, and 11-degree relief angle suit general-purpose turning on ferrous workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working with steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel families will find the TCN55 grade and TiN coating appropriate for moderate cutting speeds and continuous cuts. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for RPG42 ANSI and RPG120300 ISO-designated clamp-style turning toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch inscribed circle round insert.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Never run a cracked or chipped insert, as insert failure at speed presents a serious safety hazard.
