The VALUE COLLECTION TCN19340A is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to ANSI Insert Code SPMR422 and ISO Insert Code SPMR120308, this insert features a TiN (titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life and reduces built-up edge on common work materials. It carries a square insert shape with a 90-degree included angle, an 11-degree relief angle, and a positive side clearance geometry. The 1/32-inch corner radius produces a controlled surface finish, while the solid carbide substrate supports the rigidity demands of moderate-to-high feed rate applications. Chip breaker style R is incorporated to aid chip control during continuous cuts.
This insert is suited for turning operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both light finishing and semi-finishing passes. The SPMR style and clamp-held mounting make it appropriate for use in standard SPMR-compatible toolholders found in production turning centers and engine lathes across light manufacturing, job shops, and maintenance machining environments. Primary workpiece material codes M and P indicate suitability for stainless steels, steels, and similar materials. Material grade C5 aligns with general-purpose turning at moderate cutting speeds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for use in clamp-style SPMR-compatible turning toolholders accepting a square insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle.
This insert is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians using standard clamp-style insert retention hardware. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any cutting insert. Ensure the insert pocket and shim seat are clean and free of chips before clamping to maintain proper seating and edge geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamp screw to avoid insert fracture or improper retention.
