The VALUE COLLECTION ST0120040 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal and industrial applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers accurate sizing in through-holes where a close tolerance fit is required. The reamer measures 5/8 inch (0.6250 inches) in diameter with an 8-inch overall length and a 2-inch flute length. An 8-flute straight configuration provides smooth cutting action and consistent surface finish. The 2MT Morse taper shank mounts directly into compatible drill press chucks, lathes, and milling machine spindles. This tool is installed and used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance professionals.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where finish reaming to a nominal 5/8-inch bore is required. Typical applications include sizing bearing bores, pin holes, and precision-fit sleeve installations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The right-hand cutting direction and straight flute geometry make it appropriate for through-hole reaming on drill presses, lathes, and knee mills equipped with a No. 2 Morse taper spindle or adapter. It is sold individually and handles a reamer diameter range within the 0.5000 to 0.6999 decimal inch class.
Designed for use in any machine spindle or chuck accepting a No. 2 Morse taper shank, including standard drill presses, engine lathes, and vertical milling machines configured for finish reaming operations.
This reamer is installed by machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with taper-shank tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and taper shank are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the taper to prevent runout. Always reduce spindle speed significantly below drilling speeds when reaming, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material. Never use a chucking reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore to within a few thousandths of final diameter before reaming.
