The VALUE COLLECTION SM26N03 is a No. 3 taper pin reamer ground from high-speed steel (HSS) and designed to enlarge, finish, and shape taper pin holes to a precise 1:48 taper ratio. The cutting geometry features helical flutes with a right-hand cutting direction and left-hand spiral, a combination that promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces chatter during reaming. The small end diameter is 0.1813 inches and the large end diameter is 0.2294 inches, delivering the exact taper profile required for No. 3 taper pin seating. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians install this reamer in manual or CNC drilling setups for general-purpose hole finishing applications.
This reamer is suited for general-purpose production and maintenance environments where taper pin holes must be finished to close tolerance. Typical applications include enlarging and finishing holes for taper pins used in shaft-to-hub connections, alignment fixtures, and mechanical assemblies. The bright, uncoated finish makes it well suited for use in a wide range of workpiece materials where coating buildup or heat retention is a concern. The straight shank accepts standard drill chucks and collet holders, making it easy to deploy across common machine setups.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or supplemental tooling for No. 3 taper pin hole finishing operations; confirm taper pin size and hole specification against your assembly drawing before use.
Taper pin reamers are installed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians using a drill press, milling machine, or hand brace. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling or adjusting workpiece fixtures. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Never force-feed a reamer through a hole significantly undersize; step-drill to near-finish diameter before reaming to the final taper.
