The VALUE COLLECTION SM2000048 is a straight-shank hand reamer designed to finish and size pre-drilled holes to a precise 3/4 inch diameter. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it delivers consistent cutting performance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The tool features 8 spiral flutes in a left-hand spiral, right-hand cut configuration, which helps pull chips away from the cutting zone and reduces chatter during the reaming pass. With a flute length of 4-3/16 inches and an overall length of 8-3/8 inches, it provides the reach needed for standard through-hole and moderate-depth finishing work. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance mechanics rely on this style of reamer for hand or slow-speed machine reaming where tight dimensional tolerances are required.
This hand reamer is suited for use in machine shops, maintenance and repair operations, and fabrication environments where hole finishing to 3/4 inch is required. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, hand braces, or tapping handles at low RPM. Common applications include bearing seat preparation, bushing installation, and general precision hole finishing in mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials. The straight shank seats directly into standard chucks or reamer wrenches without additional adapters.
Designed as a general-purpose hand reamer for standard straight-shank chucks, reamer wrenches, and drill press setups requiring a 3/4 inch finish diameter.
This reamer should be used at low speeds with consistent feed pressure to prevent bell-mouthing or chatter in the finished hole. Always ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before beginning a reaming operation. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Inspect the reamer for chipped flutes before use, as a damaged cutting edge will produce an oversized or out-of-round hole.
