The VALUE COLLECTION SM2000008 is a hand reamer designed for precision finishing and sizing of drilled holes to tight tolerances. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this reamer features a spiral flute geometry with left-hand spiral direction and right-hand cutting action. The 1/8 inch diameter and 1-1/2 inch flute length make it well suited for small-bore finishing work in metal, where a consistent, smooth hole surface is required. It uses a straight shank for standard chuck mounting and measures 3 inches overall length. Machinists, pipefitters, and toolroom technicians working with small-diameter bores will find this tool appropriate for hand-driven or low-speed machine finishing operations.
This reamer is intended for light material removal to bring an undersized hole to a precise finished diameter. It is commonly used in maintenance, repair, and fabrication settings where small-diameter precision holes are required in metal components. The 6-flute spiral design improves chip evacuation and surface finish compared to straight-flute alternatives, making it appropriate for through-holes and blind holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Suitable for bench work and hand-reaming applications where a tap wrench or similar low-torque driver is used.
Designed as an OEM-style hand reamer for general-purpose small-diameter hole finishing in metalworking, maintenance, and fabrication applications.
Hand reamers should be driven with a tap wrench or low-speed machine spindle — never use impact drivers or high-speed rotation, as this can cause chatter, tool breakage, or oversized holes. Secure the workpiece firmly before reaming and apply a suitable cutting fluid for the material being worked. Always rotate the reamer in the cutting direction only — reversing rotation can damage the flute edges. Follow applicable shop safety practices and wear appropriate eye protection when operating cutting tools.
