The VALUE COLLECTION SM1900040 is a straight-flute hand reamer designed to finish and size drilled or bored holes to a precise 5/8 inch diameter. Machined from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers the hardness and edge retention needed for accurate hole finishing in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and similar shop materials. The 8-flute configuration provides a smooth cutting action and improved surface finish compared to lower-flute-count designs. With a 3.5 inch flute length and 7 inch overall length, it fits standard tap wrench or brace-style drivers used in manual reaming operations. Machinists, tool and die workers, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians reach for this type of tool when a drilled hole needs to be brought to final size and finish by hand.
This hand reamer is suited for manual material removal in production, maintenance, and repair settings where controlled, light stock removal is required. The straight shank accepts standard tap wrenches, allowing the operator to maintain alignment through the cut. Typical applications include hole finishing in metal fabrication, fixture building, pump and valve body repair, and pipe flange work where bolt-hole sizing is critical. The right-hand cutting direction is the industry standard for conventional hand reaming operations.
Designed as an OEM-style hand reamer for use with standard tap wrenches and brace drivers accepting straight-shank tooling; intended for manual hole finishing operations to a nominal 5/8 inch diameter.
Hand reamers are installed and operated by machinists or maintenance technicians using a tap wrench or similar manual driver. Secure the workpiece firmly before beginning the reaming pass, and apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Always rotate the reamer in the cutting direction only — reversing rotation can chip the cutting edges. Remove only the amount of stock the tool is rated for; hand reamers are finish tools, not stock-removal tools.
