The VALUE COLLECTION SM1500009 is a 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) diameter chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled or bored holes to precise dimensional tolerances. Constructed from cobalt steel, this reamer offers increased heat and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel, making it well-suited for harder workpiece materials. The tool features a bright, uncoated finish and a straight-cylindrical shank for direct mounting in drill chucks, collets, or machine spindles. With 6 right-hand spiral flutes and a right-hand cutting direction, it produces clean, accurate bores in a single pass. Machinists and tooling technicians are the typical end users for this style of reamer.
This chucking reamer is appropriate for general-purpose precision hole finishing in machine shop, maintenance, and production environments. The 9/64 inch diameter and 1 inch flute length make it suitable for shallow-to-moderate depth applications in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and similar materials where a tight hole tolerance is required. The 4 inch overall length accommodates standard machine setups on drill presses, lathes, and milling machines. It is not configured as a dowel pin reamer or an over/under size reamer.
Designed as a general-purpose chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with standard chuck or collet toolholding systems accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists or tooling technicians. Before mounting, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the chuck or collet is clean and free of debris to prevent runout. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck or collet before beginning any reaming operation. Always pre-drill the hole to the appropriate undersize before reaming, and use cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish.
