The VALUE COLLECTION SM0406950 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled or bored holes to a precise 0.6950-inch diameter. Machined from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers consistent dimensional accuracy in production and job-shop environments. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in drill chucks and collet holders, making it compatible with standard machine setups. With 6 flutes and a 2.25-inch flute length, it removes material efficiently while maintaining tight tolerances. Right-hand cutting direction and a 9-inch overall length make it well suited for through-hole and blind-hole reaming on lathes, drill presses, and CNC machining centers.
This chucking reamer is appropriate for metalworking applications where hole sizing accuracy is critical, including fixture work, bearing seat preparation, and precision fit assemblies. The 0.6950-inch diameter falls within the common 0.5000- to 0.6999-inch decimal-inch reamer range, covering a broad set of machine shop finishing tasks. It is typically installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in both manual and CNC environments.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in lathes, drill presses, and CNC machining centers equipped with a drill chuck or collet system sized to accept a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.6950-inch diameter class.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists and should be used only after a hole has been drilled or bored to the appropriate pre-ream diameter, typically leaving 0.005 to 0.015 inch of material for removal. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Ensure machine spindle speed is set to recommended reaming RPM — generally lower than drilling speed — to avoid chatter and maintain dimensional accuracy.
