The VALUE COLLECTION SM0406590 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to finish-ream holes to a precise 0.6590-inch diameter. Machined from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers clean, accurate bores in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders, making it a straightforward drop-in for most manual or CNC drilling setups. With a 9-inch overall length and a 2.25-inch flute length, it provides the reach and cutting surface needed for typical through-hole and blind-hole finishing operations. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional machine spindle rotation.
This chucking reamer is suited for machine shop environments, maintenance and repair operations, and production toolrooms. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, lathes, and machining centers where a machine-driven reamer is required to bring a drilled or bored hole to final size. The 0.6590-inch diameter falls within the 0.5000- to 0.6999-inch decimal-inch reamer range, making it a practical choice for general-purpose hole finishing at this size class.
Designed as a general-purpose machine chucking reamer for use in drill presses, engine lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with standard drill chucks or collet-style toolholders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists; power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the tool. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck or collet to prevent runout, which is the primary cause of oversized or out-of-round holes. Always apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material, and feed at a reduced rate compared to the pilot drill to avoid chatter and tool deflection. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before use and replace the reamer if edges are dull.
