The VALUE COLLECTION SM0405670 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to bring bored or drilled holes to precise final diameter. Ground from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers consistent dimensional accuracy on a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in a drill chuck or collet, making it a practical choice for lathe, drill press, and CNC drilling-center applications. At 0.5670 inches in diameter with an 8-inch overall length and a 2-inch flute length, it is suited for through-holes and moderate-depth blind holes in production and job-shop environments. Cutting action is right-hand, the industry standard for conventional reaming operations.
This chucking reamer is used in machine shops, toolrooms, and maintenance facilities wherever a finish-reamed hole tolerance is required. Typical applications include sizing holes for dowel pins, bushings, and close-tolerance fastener fits in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and brass. The 8-inch OAL provides adequate reach for most standard workpiece setups without requiring extended-reach tooling. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople following standard reaming feeds and speeds for HSS tooling.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill chucks, collet chucks, and floating reamer holders on lathes, drill presses, and machining centers that accept straight-cylindrical shank tooling.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet before starting the spindle, and confirm runout is within acceptable limits before taking a finish pass. Power down and lock out the machine before changing or adjusting tooling. Follow established HSS reaming feeds and speeds for the specific workpiece material to avoid tool deflection or premature wear.
