The VALUE COLLECTION SM0405460 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to bring bored or drilled holes to a precise finished diameter. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers clean cutting action on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials in manual and CNC machine tool applications. The reamer measures 0.5460 inches in diameter with an 8-inch overall length and a 2-inch flute length. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard chucks and collets without additional adapters. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. Machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople use this type of reamer as the final sizing pass to achieve tight-tolerance hole fits.
This chucking reamer is suited for machine shop, maintenance, and production environments where hole diameter repeatability is required. It fits drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a standard chuck or collet capable of accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. The 0.5460-inch diameter falls within the 0.5000 to 0.6999 inch reamer diameter range, making it appropriate for finish-reaming operations where a standard fractional reamer does not match the required bore size.
Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers that accept a straight-cylindrical shank reamer. Suitable for finish-reaming operations requiring a 0.5460-inch hole diameter. Not a dowel pin reamer and not an over or under-size ground reamer.
Chucking reamers must be installed in a properly aligned chuck or collet to prevent runout, which directly affects finished hole diameter. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and reamer diameter before starting the cut. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing or adjusting tooling. Use cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish.
