The VALUE COLLECTION SC0840122 is a high-speed steel Morse taper core drill designed for enlarging existing holes to precise finished diameters in metal and similar materials. With a 1-11/32 inch (1.3438 inch decimal) cutting diameter and a 4MT Morse taper shank, this drill seats securely in compatible spindles and drilling machines without additional adapters in most shop setups. The 4-flute geometry provides a smooth cutting action and improved chip evacuation compared to standard 2-flute designs. An oxide finish reduces friction and provides light corrosion resistance during service. Overall length is 14-3/8 inches, with a flute length of 8-3/4 inches.
Core drills of this type are used in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments where holes must be opened to a controlled diameter from a pre-drilled or cast starting point. The right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction suit standard drill press, lathe tailstock, and milling machine applications. This tool is appropriate for machinists, tool and die technicians, and skilled maintenance trades working with steel, iron, and similar ferrous stock.
Designed for use in machines equipped with a No. 4 Morse taper spindle, including drill presses, lathe tailstocks, and milling machines configured for 4MT tooling. Intended for enlarging pre-existing holes rather than drilling from solid stock.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or skilled tradesperson familiar with rotating cutting tools. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing the taper shank. Ensure the taper socket is clean and free of debris before insertion to achieve full shank engagement. Always operate within the spindle speed range appropriate for the workpiece material and drill diameter — consult applicable machining reference data before cutting.
