The VALUE COLLECTION SC00187328 is a Morse taper extension adapter designed to connect spindles, sleeves, and tooling across mismatched taper sizes. It features an MT3 inside (female) taper and an MT2 outside (male) taper, allowing machinists and toolroom technicians to extend or adapt taper tooling in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and similar equipment. The adapter measures 7.75 inches overall length (OAL) and is constructed from medium carbon steel that is hardened and ground throughout for dimensional accuracy and long service life. At 1.52 pounds, it is a solid, properly proportioned adapter suited to production and maintenance machine shop environments.
This adapter is used when existing machine spindle tapers and cutting tool shanks do not match directly. The MT2 outside taper seats into the machine spindle socket, and the MT3 inside taper receives the tool or arbor shank. This configuration is common in drill press and lathe setups where tooling with a larger MT3 shank must be mounted in an MT2 spindle. The extended OAL of 7.75 inches also provides additional reach when working in deep setups or when clearance is needed between the spindle and workpiece.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit adapter for machine tools equipped with an MT2 spindle socket requiring MT3 tooling capability, consistent with standard Morse taper interchangeability across drill presses, lathes, and milling machines.
Installation and removal should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any taper adapter. Clean taper surfaces thoroughly before installation — chips, oil, or debris will prevent proper seating and can cause runout or tool ejection. Use a proper drift punch and brass or soft-face mallet to break the taper seat for removal; never use steel striking tools directly on the adapter body.
