The VALUE COLLECTION S04186185 is a crimped-wire cup brush designed for surface preparation, weld cleaning, rust removal, and deburring on metal workpieces. It uses 0.008-inch diameter fine steel wire in a crimped configuration, which provides consistent scratch-free abrasion suited to finishing passes and light cleaning work. The brush measures 3 inches in diameter and accepts a standard 5/8-11 threaded arbor for direct mounting on angle grinders. Maximum rated speed is 12,500 RPM. A licensed tradesperson or skilled fabricator handles installation and operation in typical shop or field metalwork applications.
This cup brush is appropriate for use on mild steel, structural steel, and similar ferrous surfaces where light-to-moderate mechanical cleaning is required. Typical applications include pre-weld joint cleaning, post-weld slag and spatter removal, rust and mill scale removal, and paint stripping on metal panels. The fine crimped wire grade makes it well-suited to surfaces where a coarser knotted-wire brush would leave unacceptable scratch depth. It is used in fabrication shops, HVAC ductwork and equipment installation, plumbing rough-in, and general mechanical service settings.
Designed for use with angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle, which is the standard arbor size on most 4-inch to 5-inch angle grinders used in trade and industrial applications.
Installation is performed by threading the brush directly onto the grinder spindle and tightening finger-tight plus a firm snug turn — do not use a wrench on the brush itself as this can distort the hub. Always verify the grinder's no-load RPM rating does not exceed the 12,500 RPM maximum marked on this brush before mounting. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, leather gloves, and hearing protection whenever operating a cup brush. Inspect the wire fill for broken or splayed wires before each use and remove the brush from service if damage is found.
