The VALUE COLLECTION R56001398 is a 5/8-18 UNF hex nut machined from Grade 316 stainless steel with a bright, uncoated finish. It features a right-hand thread pattern and measures 15/16 inches across the flats with a height of 3/8 inches. Grade 316 stainless offers strong resistance to chlorides and corrosive environments, making it a common choice in marine, chemical processing, food service, and outdoor industrial applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians install this nut where standard carbon steel fasteners would corrode prematurely. The fine 18-threads-per-inch pitch provides precise torque control and strong clamping force in high-vibration or tight-tolerance assemblies.
This hex nut is suited for use in residential, commercial, and industrial settings where corrosion resistance is a primary requirement. Typical applications include marine hardware, pool and spa equipment, coastal HVAC installations, stainless steel piping assemblies, and food-grade process equipment. The UNF thread standard ensures compatibility with 5/8-18 threaded rod, bolts, and studs across a wide range of manufactured equipment. It is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 5.
Designed for use with any 5/8-18 UNF threaded fastener or stud requiring a Grade 316 stainless steel hex nut in standard right-hand thread orientation.
Installation is performed by hand-threading the nut onto a clean, compatible 5/8-18 UNF male thread, then tightening with a standard hex wrench or socket to the torque specification required by the assembly manufacturer. Always inspect threads for damage or contamination before installation. In stainless-to-stainless assemblies, apply an anti-seize compound to reduce the risk of galling. Ensure the mating fastener is also Grade 316 stainless or a compatible material to avoid galvanic corrosion.
