The VALUE COLLECTION R56001356 is a heavy hex nut machined to 1/2-13 UNC thread specifications in Grade 316 stainless steel with a bright, uncoated finish. Heavy hex nuts feature a wider, thicker profile than standard hex nuts, providing greater bearing surface and resistance to loosening under load. Grade 316 stainless steel adds molybdenum to the alloy, giving it superior corrosion resistance compared to 304-grade fasteners — a critical advantage in wet, chlorinated, or chemically aggressive environments. This nut is threaded right-hand and is installed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and mechanical contractors working on corrosion-sensitive assemblies.
This heavy hex nut is suited for use in marine, coastal, pool and spa, chemical processing, and food-service environments where standard carbon steel or 18-8 stainless fasteners would corrode prematurely. It is a standard fit for 1/2-13 UNC threaded rod, bolts, and studs used in pipe flange connections, equipment mounting, and structural mechanical assemblies requiring stainless hardware. The uncoated finish makes it compatible with welding or further surface treatment if required by the application.
Designed as a standard heavy hex nut for use with 1/2-13 UNC threaded bolts, studs, and threaded rod in mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC assembly applications requiring Grade 316 stainless steel hardware.
Installation is performed by plumbers, pipefitters, or mechanical contractors using a standard 7/8-inch wrench or socket. Torque to the fastener assembly specification defined by the engineer of record or applicable code — do not overtighten stainless fasteners, as galling can permanently seize the threads. Apply an anti-seize compound rated for stainless steel before threading to reduce galling risk. Confirm thread direction and pitch match the mating fastener before installation.
