The VALUE COLLECTION R52001617 is a heavy hex lock nut with a nylon insert, designed to resist loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. Sized for 1/4-20 UNC thread, this nut is manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a zinc finish that provides basic corrosion resistance for general-purpose indoor and sheltered outdoor applications. The nylon collar deforms around the bolt threads when driven down, creating a prevailing torque that holds the nut in place without additional locking hardware. At 3/8 inches high with a 1/2-inch width across flats, it is a compact, standard-footprint fastener suited for structural, mechanical, and equipment assembly work.
This heavy hex lock nut is used across a wide range of trade and industrial applications, including HVAC equipment assembly, electrical panel and enclosure fastening, plumbing fixture mounting, and general mechanical maintenance. The 1/4-20 UNC thread is one of the most common inch-series thread specifications, making this nut compatible with standard 1/4-20 bolts and threaded rod found throughout residential and light commercial construction and equipment service. The right-hand thread direction matches standard bolt convention. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 100 units, this nut is well suited for contractor and shop stock replenishment.
Designed as a standard UNC inch-series fastener compatible with 1/4-20 threaded bolts, screws, and threaded rod used in general mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment assembly.
Install using a 1/2-inch wrench or socket; the heavy hex profile provides full flat engagement for torque application. Power down or de-energize any equipment before servicing fastened assemblies on electrical or mechanical systems. The nylon insert is single-use by design — once the nut has been fully driven and removed, replace it rather than reusing it, as the locking torque of the insert is significantly reduced after initial use. Follow applicable equipment manufacturer torque specifications for the assembly being serviced.
