The VALUE COLLECTION R52000898 is a No. 8 hex washer head sheet metal screw with a slotted drive and Type AB point, designed for fastening sheet metal, light-gauge steel, and similar thin materials in HVAC, electrical, and general trade applications. Manufactured from Grade 1016-1024 steel with a zinc-plated finish, this screw measures 7/8 inches in length under the head. The hex washer head provides a large bearing surface that distributes clamping load and resists pull-through, while the slotted drive allows installation with a standard flat-blade driver or hex nut driver. This screw is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 100 units.
This fastener is suited for residential and commercial sheet metal work including HVAC ductwork assembly, electrical enclosure panels, equipment access covers, and general light-gauge metal fabrication. The Type AB point is a coarse-thread, gimlet-tip design that self-taps into pre-punched or pre-drilled holes in sheet metal and light-gauge steel without requiring a separate tap. HVAC technicians, electricians, and sheet metal workers routinely use this screw type for field assembly and service work.
Designed as a standard No. 8 Type AB sheet metal screw for use in pre-punched or pre-drilled holes in light-gauge steel, HVAC ductwork flanges, electrical enclosures, and similar thin-metal assemblies conforming to inch-measurement fastener specifications.
Installation is performed by sheet metal workers, HVAC technicians, and electricians using a flat-blade screwdriver or a 5/16-inch hex nut driver. Ensure the receiving material is properly pre-punched or pre-drilled to the correct pilot hole size for a No. 8 Type AB screw before driving. Do not overdrive; the hex washer head should seat flush with light contact against the material surface without deforming the sheet. Follow applicable codes such as SMACNA duct construction standards for HVAC applications.
