The VALUE COLLECTION R50000026 is a nylon insert hex lock nut designed to resist loosening under vibration and torque load. Manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish, this fastener uses an integrated nylon collar that deforms around mating threads to create a prevailing-torque locking action without requiring thread-locking compounds or secondary hardware. The 5/8-11 UNC thread size and right-hand thread direction make it a standard fit for general mechanical and structural assemblies. At 9/64 inches high and 15/16 inches across the flats, it is a low-profile nut suited for applications where stacking height is a consideration. Installers in HVAC, plumbing, and light mechanical trades regularly use this nut type for equipment mounting, bracket fabrication, and pipe support work.
This nylon insert lock nut is appropriate for residential and light commercial applications where a reusable, vibration-resistant fastener is needed on 5/8-11 threaded rod, bolts, or studs. Typical scenarios include equipment pad anchoring, equipment frame assembly, duct support systems, and general sheet-metal or structural fastening tasks. The zinc-plated steel construction provides moderate corrosion resistance for indoor or protected outdoor environments. It is not rated for high-temperature applications where nylon insert integrity could be compromised.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or stock fastener for use with 5/8-11 UNC threaded rod, bolts, and studs in standard inch-measurement assemblies.
Installation is performed with a standard 15/16 inch open-end, box, or socket wrench. Power down or de-energize any associated equipment before accessing fastener locations on live mechanical systems. Nylon insert lock nuts are generally considered single-use; the locking torque of the nylon collar diminishes with repeated removal and reinstallation. Do not use in applications where sustained temperatures exceed the rated thermal limits of the nylon insert, such as directly adjacent to heat exchangers or exhaust components.
