The VALUE COLLECTION PC123NB-42 is a brass hex nipple reducer fitting designed to connect a 1/4-inch male NPT thread to a 1/8-inch female NPT thread in a single compact body. The hex profile provides wrench flats for secure installation and easy removal without marring adjacent components. A nickel-plated finish adds corrosion resistance beyond bare brass, making this fitting suitable for dry and mildly corrosive service environments. Rated to 1,000 psi, it handles the pressure demands typical of compressed air, water, and gas distribution lines in commercial and industrial plumbing applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of reducer to step down thread size between lines, instruments, gauges, or valves where a direct same-size connection is not possible.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, pneumatic lines, instrumentation tubing, and HVAC refrigerant or compressed-air pilot lines where a 1/4-inch MNPT supply must connect to a 1/8-inch FNPT port. The hex body style is a standard choice when inline wrenching clearance is limited and a smooth-barrel nipple would be difficult to grip. Installation requires no special tooling beyond a standard open-end or adjustable wrench and compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape per applicable plumbing codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard component for any system requiring a 1/4-inch MNPT to 1/8-inch FNPT brass hex nipple reducer rated to 1,000 psi with a nickel-plated finish.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter following applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the supply line fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply PTFE tape or a code-approved thread sealant to the male threads before makeup, and tighten with a wrench on the hex flats only — do not use pipe jaws on the plated surfaces. Inspect threads and the mating port for damage before installation.
