The VALUE COLLECTION P20118 is an extended prong cotter pin designed to secure clevis pins, shaft assemblies, and fastener connections in mechanical and structural applications. Manufactured from Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish, this pin measures 3/32 inch in diameter and 1/2 inch in length. The extended prong design allows the legs to be bent back securely after installation, providing reliable retention in light- to medium-duty assemblies. Zinc plating offers basic corrosion resistance for general shop and field use. Maintenance technicians, millwrights, and general tradespeople commonly stock this fastener for routine equipment servicing and repair.
This cotter pin is suited for use in low-vibration and moderate-vibration mechanical assemblies where a positive pin-retention method is required. Typical applications include linkage rods, clevis connections, brake and clutch assemblies, and hinge pin retention. The compact 1/2-inch length and 3/32-inch diameter make this pin appropriate for smaller-diameter shafts and tight-clearance installations. It is commonly used across general manufacturing, agricultural equipment maintenance, HVAC linkage hardware, and light industrial service work.
Designed as a standard extended prong cotter pin for use in clevis pins, shaft retainers, and mechanical linkage assemblies requiring a 3/32-inch diameter pin hole.
Cotter pins are installed by a mechanic or maintenance technician using needle-nose pliers or a cotter pin tool. Always de-energize, lock out, and tag out the equipment before servicing any pinned connection. Insert the pin through the shaft hole until the head seats flush, then bend the prongs apart to lock the pin in place — do not reuse a previously bent cotter pin. Follow applicable equipment manufacturer torque and assembly specifications for the surrounding fasteners.
