The VALUE COLLECTION NT-1420-250-AS is a 1/4-20 UNC hex-drive set screw designed for secure, non-marring fastening in mechanical assemblies. The screw features a nylon soft tip point that contacts the mating surface without gouging or scoring, making it well suited for locking shafts, collars, and pulleys where surface finish must be preserved. Manufactured from Grade 8 alloy steel, it delivers high tensile and torsional strength appropriate for demanding industrial and mechanical applications. The thread length equals the full 1/4-inch nominal length of the screw, conforming to UNC and UNF thread standards.
This set screw is used in a wide range of mechanical power transmission assemblies including shaft-to-hub connections, set collar installations, timing pulleys, sprockets, and similar components. It is commonly installed during fabrication, repair, or replacement work on industrial machinery, HVAC fan assemblies, and general mechanical equipment. The nylon tip makes it particularly useful in applications where the mating shaft or surface material is softer or must remain undamaged after disassembly. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed as a standard 1/4-20 UNC inch-series set screw for use in any mechanical assembly requiring a 1/4-20 tapped through-hole or blind hole with a soft-tip, non-marring fastening requirement.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist, millwright, or qualified maintenance technician using a properly sized hex key or Allen wrench. Always de-energize and lock out equipment before servicing any assembly containing set screws. Do not exceed the rated torque capacity for the fastener size and grade. Inspect the nylon tip for wear or deformation during routine maintenance and replace the screw if the tip is damaged, as a degraded tip reduces holding effectiveness and may allow shaft movement.
