The VALUE COLLECTION NS06264600 is an O1 oil-hardening tool steel flat stock bar used in toolmaking, die making, punches, gauges, and precision machined components. O1 is a general-purpose tool steel known for its predictable oil-quench hardening and good dimensional stability after heat treatment. This bar measures 7/16 inches thick, 1 inch wide, and 36 inches long, with a weight of 4.52 pounds. Thickness tolerance is held to +/- 0.001 inches, making it suitable for applications where tight dimensional control before and after machining is required. Machinists, tool and die makers, and precision fabricators work with this material in both job shop and production environments.
This flat stock is suited for fabricating cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and other hardened tooling components. The 36-inch length allows multiple blanks to be cut from a single bar, reducing material waste in short-run tooling jobs. The AISI Type O1 specification ensures consistent chemistry and heat-treat response across production runs. Typical use is in machine shops and toolrooms where parts are rough-machined to near-net shape, then hardened and finish-ground to final dimensions.
Designed as a standard O1 oil-hardening tool steel flat bar for general toolmaking, die making, and precision fabrication applications requiring AISI Type O1 material specification.
O1 tool steel flat stock is worked by machinists and tool and die makers using conventional milling, turning, and grinding equipment. Rough machine to near-net shape before hardening, then finish grind after oil quench and temper to achieve final dimensions. Follow established heat treatment procedures for AISI O1 including proper soak temperatures and oil quench media to avoid cracking or distortion. Allow material to reach a stable temperature before precision measurement, as residual stress from sawing or machining can affect readings.
