The VALUE COLLECTION N03529 is a Type 27 flap disc designed for aggressive material removal and blending on steel and stainless steel surfaces. The disc measures 4.5 inches in diameter with a 5/8-11 threaded arbor hole for direct mounting to standard angle grinders. Abrasive material is zirconia alumina, an 80-grit medium-grade coating bonded to overlapping fiberglass-backed flaps in a high-density configuration. The fiberglass backing resists flex fatigue under load, and the disc is rated to a maximum of 13,000 RPM. Sold in packs of 5, this disc is a common consumable choice for fabricators, ironworkers, pipefitters, and maintenance welders working in metal fab and field repair applications.
This flap disc is suited for flat grinding and light stock removal on mild steel, structural steel, and stainless steel workpieces. The Type 27 flat profile allows the disc to sit parallel to the work surface, making it effective for surface conditioning, weld blending, and deburring on plate, pipe, and structural shapes. The high-density flap construction extends disc life compared to standard-density alternatives, which reduces changeover frequency during production runs. It is compatible with 5/8-11 spindle angle grinders — the standard thread found on most 4.5-inch grinder models in the field.
Designed for use with 4.5-inch angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle arbor. Intended material applications include steels and stainless steel as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by threading the disc directly onto a 5/8-11 grinder spindle — confirm the grinder is unplugged or the battery is removed before mounting or removing the disc. Verify that the grinder's no-load RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc's 13,000 RPM maximum before use. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, gloves, and hearing protection during operation. Do not use a damaged, cracked, or loaded disc, and inspect each disc prior to mounting.
