The VALUE COLLECTION MSCNG02015 is a galvanized steel pipe nipple used to connect threaded pipe sections in plumbing, HVAC, gas distribution, and industrial piping systems. It measures 1/4 inch in pipe size and 1-1/2 inches in length, conforming to Schedule 40 wall thickness. The welded steel construction is hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance in wet or outdoor environments. Both ends are cut with MNPT threads for direct make-up into female-threaded fittings, valves, or pipe couplings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers, though HVAC technicians and mechanical contractors use short nipples like this for gas and hydronic connections regularly.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial installations where a short threaded extension or close-nipple stub-out is needed. Common applications include gas supply lines, water distribution headers, condensate drain assemblies, and boiler piping connections. The Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard pressure ratings for domestic water and low-pressure gas service. The galvanized finish helps extend service life in damp mechanical rooms, crawlspaces, and outdoor utility connections.
Designed as a standard threaded replacement or extension nipple for 1/4 inch Schedule 40 female-threaded pipe fittings, valves, and couplings used in plumbing, HVAC, and gas piping assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC requirements. Shut off the water or gas supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded pipe component. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before make-up and tighten to a snug, leak-free fit using a pipe wrench. Do not over-torque, as this can crack fittings or damage threads.
