The VALUE COLLECTION MSCNB08025 is a black steel pipe nipple used to connect threaded pipe sections in plumbing, HVAC, gas distribution, and industrial piping systems. It measures 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 2-1/2 inches in length, with Schedule 40 wall thickness for standard-duty pressure applications. Constructed from welded steel with a black finish coating, it provides reliable service in moderate-temperature and moderate-pressure environments. Both ends are threaded male NPT (MNPT x MNPT), allowing direct connection to female-threaded fittings, valves, or couplings. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of nipple as a short run connector or close-offset fitting in pipe assemblies.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, gas piping rough-ins, and general industrial piping layouts. Its Schedule 40 wall rating makes it appropriate for standard working pressures in water, steam, gas, and air systems where black steel pipe is specified. The welded construction and black finish are typical of domestic and imported steel nipples used throughout the trade for decades.
Designed as a standard Schedule 40 black steel pipe nipple compatible with 1-1/2 inch female NPT fittings, couplings, valves, and pipe in systems where black steel pipe is specified per applicable plumbing and mechanical codes.
Black steel pipe nipples are installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working under applicable plumbing and mechanical codes such as the IPC and IFGC. Shut off system pressure and drain or purge the line before making any threaded connection. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly, and tighten with pipe wrenches to achieve a leak-free joint without over-stressing the fitting. Do not use black steel nipples in potable water systems without confirming local code acceptance.
