The VALUE COLLECTION MSCNB04080 is a Schedule 40 black steel pipe nipple used to create threaded connections in piping systems across plumbing, HVAC, gas distribution, and industrial applications. Measuring 1/2 inch in diameter and 8 inches in length, this nipple features male NPT threads on both ends for straightforward integration into standard threaded fittings and valves. The welded steel construction provides reliable pressure resistance suitable for a range of fluid and gas service conditions. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians commonly specify Schedule 40 black steel nipples for gas lines, steam systems, and general purpose piping assemblies.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial piping installations where a 1/2 inch Schedule 40 black steel fitting is required. Typical applications include natural gas and propane distribution lines, steam and hot water heating systems, compressed air runs, and general industrial pipe assemblies. The 8 inch length provides sufficient extension between fittings in close-quarter installations where a standard close or short nipple would be inadequate. MNPT x MNPT threading allows direct makeup with standard female NPT couplings, tees, elbows, and valves.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard trade fitting compatible with 1/2 inch female NPT threaded couplings, tees, elbows, unions, and valves in Schedule 40 black steel piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, IFGC requirements for gas service, or IPC requirements for plumbing service. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium before makeup. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as this can damage threads or crack adjacent fittings.
