The VALUE COLLECTION MSC67706523X is a Size 6 externally threaded taper pin machined from 303 grade 18-8 stainless steel with a passivated finish. The pin measures 3 inches in length with a large end diameter of 0.339 inches and a neck diameter of 0.253 inches. The 5/16-24 threaded end allows secure nut retention, preventing the pin from working loose under vibration or axial load. Maximum diameter tolerance is held to 0.0013 inches, keeping fitment consistent across standard tapered holes. Passivation removes surface iron and improves corrosion resistance without altering dimensions. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and assembly professionals use this pin where precise, removable shaft-to-hub or shaft-to-collar connections are required.
This taper pin is suited for light to medium mechanical assemblies where a removable, self-locking connection is needed between rotating or stationary components. Typical applications include locking hubs, collars, levers, and handwheels to shafts in industrial machinery, fluid handling equipment, and general fabrication. The threaded end is especially useful in blind installations or assemblies where a standard drift-driven pin would be difficult to remove. Stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for wet, washdown, or mildly corrosive environments where carbon steel pins would be unsuitable.
Designed as a standard AN386 Size 6 threaded taper pin for use in any application requiring a 5/16-24 threaded taper pin with a 0.339-inch large end diameter and 3-inch pin length.
Installation is typically performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a tapered reamer to ensure the hole matches the pin taper before driving. The pin should be seated firmly before the nut is threaded onto the 5/16-24 end to lock it in place. Deburr and clean the tapered hole prior to installation to achieve full contact along the pin taper. Disconnect or de-energize all connected equipment before servicing any shaft or hub connection.
