The VALUE COLLECTION MP72018 is a hex socket cap screw designed for precision fastening applications requiring a compact drive profile and reliable clamping force. Sized at 4-40 UNC with a 1/4 inch length under head and a 3/32 inch hex drive, this screw is fully threaded and manufactured from alloy steel with a black oxide finish. The black oxide coating provides a degree of corrosion resistance while reducing light reflection, which is useful in instrumentation, electronics enclosures, and close-tolerance mechanical assemblies. This package contains 50 screws. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and electromechanical assembly workers are the typical installers.
These socket cap screws are suited for applications where a low-profile, high-strength fastener is needed in tight clearance conditions. The 4-40 UNC thread designation is common in light-duty machine assemblies, electronic chassis, jigs, fixtures, and precision instruments. The 3/32 inch hex drive requires a matching hex key or Allen driver for installation. Fully threaded along the shank length, these screws provide maximum thread engagement for their size, making them appropriate for shallow through-hole and tapped-hole applications in metal and rigid plastic components.
Designed as a standard inch-series socket cap screw compatible with any application requiring a 4-40 UNC tapped hole and a 1/4 inch length under head fastener per ANSI B18.3 specification.
Installation requires a 3/32 inch hex key or T-handle Allen driver. Ensure the mating tapped hole conforms to 4-40 UNC thread form before driving the screw to avoid cross-threading. Torque to the assembly specification established for the application and base material — do not exceed the rated capacity of the alloy steel fastener or the strength of the mating material. Depressurize, de-energize, or otherwise make safe any assembly before removing or replacing fasteners in service.
