The VALUE COLLECTION MP40417 is a cup point set screw designed for secure, vibration-resistant fastening in mechanical assemblies. Manufactured from Grade 8 alloy steel, it delivers high tensile strength and hardness suited for demanding industrial and trade applications. The screw measures 1/2-13 thread size at 1 inch overall length and accepts a 1/4 inch hex key drive. The cup point tip bites into the mating surface to resist axial and rotational movement without a protruding head. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians regularly specify this type of fastener for shaft-to-hub connections, collar locks, and similar setups where a flush or recessed fastener is required.
This set screw is appropriate for use in rotating machinery, motor shaft collars, sprocket and pulley assemblies, and general mechanical fabrication work. The UNC thread form makes it compatible with standard unified inch-series tapped holes. It conforms to ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F912 standards, which specify dimensional and mechanical property requirements for socket set screws. This fastener is sold in a package quantity of 10 and has a minimum order quantity of 1 package, making it suitable for both single-job use and bench stock replenishment.
Designed as a standard UNC socket set screw for use in any application requiring a 1/2-13 tapped hole and conforming to ASME/ANSI B18.3 dimensional specifications.
Installation is performed with a 1/4 inch hex key (Allen wrench); ensure the key is fully seated before applying torque to avoid rounding the drive socket. De-energize and lock out any machinery before servicing shaft collars or rotating components per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Do not reuse set screws that show signs of deformation at the cup point or drive socket, as engagement integrity may be compromised. Follow the equipment manufacturer's recommended seating procedure for the specific assembly.
