The VALUE COLLECTION MDB90 40-5 is a 1-1/2 inch malleable iron 90 degree elbow designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, gas distribution, and mechanical systems. Finished in black, this Class 150 fitting carries a 300 psi liquid and gas pressure rating, making it suitable for a wide range of low- to moderate-pressure service applications. The Schedule 40-compatible threading mates with standard NPT pipe, and the malleable iron construction provides the ductility needed to resist vibration and mechanical stress in installed piping systems. Each order is supplied in a package quantity of five fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
This elbow is used wherever a 90 degree directional change is required in a 1-1/2 inch threaded pipe run. Typical applications include residential and light commercial gas piping, potable water distribution, fire protection branch lines, and general industrial fluid conveyance. The NSF/ANSI 61 and NSF/ANSI 372 certifications confirm suitability for contact with potable water, and FM Approval supports use in fire protection piping where listed fittings are specified. Installations span boiler rooms, mechanical rooms, and utility spaces where malleable iron fittings are the standard of practice.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/2 inch threaded Schedule 40 malleable iron pipe systems in plumbing, gas, and fire protection applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes, the International Plumbing Code (IPC), or the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) as applicable. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before making or breaking any threaded connections. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly, and hand-tighten before using a pipe wrench to achieve a proper seal. Do not over-tighten malleable iron fittings, as excess torque can crack the casting.
