The VALUE COLLECTION MDB300 15-5 is a malleable iron threaded end cap used to close off the open end of a pipe in low- to medium-pressure piping systems. Built to Class 150 with a black finish, this 1/2-inch fitting meets ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 and ASME B16.3 standards, making it suitable for both liquid and gas service at pressures up to 300 psi. The threaded connection follows Schedule 40 NPT dimensions. Plumbers and pipefitters install these fittings during new construction and retrofit work wherever a pipe run needs to be terminated cleanly and securely.
This end cap is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic piping, and industrial pipe assemblies where a threaded termination is required. The black malleable iron construction holds up in both exposed and concealed installations. Typical applications include capping supply lines, test points, and unused branch outlets on Schedule 40 black iron pipe systems carrying water, steam, air, or gas.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock fitting for 1/2-inch Schedule 40 threaded black iron pipe systems in plumbing, HVAC hydronic, and industrial piping applications.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the affected pipe section before threading on the end cap. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly in accordance with local plumbing codes and IFGC requirements for gas piping. Do not over-tighten; use a pipe wrench and standard hand-tight-plus-turns technique appropriate for the pipe size and service.
