The VALUE COLLECTION KT-10200-AP is a soft lathe chuck jaw machined from aluminum, designed for use on manual and CNC lathes where workpiece protection and custom boring are required. Soft jaws are intentionally left unhardened so the machinist can bore them to match a specific part diameter, creating precise, repeatable gripping surfaces. The aluminum construction keeps jaw weight low, which reduces chuck imbalance at higher spindle speeds. This type of jaw is installed and maintained by machinists and toolroom technicians in production and job-shop environments.
Soft lathe chuck jaws are used across general machining, aerospace, automotive, and precision manufacturing applications. They are especially well suited for holding thin-walled parts, finished workpieces, or irregular diameters that would be damaged or distorted by standard hardened steel jaws. The KT-10200-AP is sold as a single jaw, allowing replacement of individual worn or damaged jaws without purchasing a complete set.
Designed as an OEM-style soft jaw replacement for use on manual and CNC lathe chucks where aluminum soft jaws of matching chuck size and jaw slot configuration are required. Verify chuck make, size, and jaw slot dimensions before ordering.
Soft jaw installation and boring should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before removing or installing chuck jaws. After mounting the jaw, bore it in place while under light clamping pressure to ensure concentricity with the spindle centerline. Do not exceed the chuck manufacturer's rated RPM for the jaw configuration in use.
