The VALUE COLLECTION KP66127 is a 1/4-20 hex lock nut designed for applications where vibration resistance is critical. The distorted-thread locking style deforms the thread profile slightly so the nut resists loosening without requiring a separate locking insert or patch. Made from Grade C steel with a zinc-plated and waxed finish, the KP66127 provides corrosion resistance suitable for general mechanical and light industrial fastening. This nut follows the Unified National Coarse (UNC) thread standard and uses a right-hand thread direction. Sold in a package of 100 units.
Hex lock nuts with distorted-thread locking are commonly used in HVAC equipment assembly, electrical enclosure work, plumbing fixture mounting, and general equipment maintenance where standard hex nuts would back off under vibration or thermal cycling. The 1/4-20 thread size is one of the most common inch-series fastener sizes, making the KP66127 a practical shop or service-van stocking item for trade professionals who regularly encounter UNC fasteners in residential and light commercial equipment.
Designed as a standard UNC inch-series hex lock nut compatible with any 1/4-20 threaded fastener application requiring a distorted-thread locking nut.
Installation requires a standard hex wrench or socket matched to the nut width across flats. Because the thread is intentionally distorted for locking, increased running torque is expected compared to a standard hex nut. Power down or de-energize any equipment before replacing fasteners on live assemblies. Distorted-thread lock nuts are generally designed for single-use applications and should be replaced rather than reused after removal.
