The VALUE COLLECTION KP65034 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized at 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch decimal) and designed for general-purpose hole drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. The bit is manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide coating that reduces friction and provides mild corrosion resistance during use. It features a 118-degree standard point angle and a right-hand spiral flute with a regular helix for efficient chip evacuation. Overall length is 5-1/2 inches with a flute length of 4-1/16 inches. The straight-cylindrical shank is 7/16 inch in diameter, fitting standard three-jaw drill chucks. Machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and HVAC technicians commonly use jobber-length bits for layout and rough drilling tasks on the job site or in the shop.
This bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in light to medium-duty applications across residential and commercial trade work. Typical uses include drilling clearance holes for conduit hangers, pipe supports, sheet metal brackets, and structural attachments. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces the thrust required to start and advance the cut, making it practical for hand-held drill use as well as drill press operations. No coolant-through capability is present, so external cutting fluid or air cooling should be used when drilling steel at higher feed rates to extend cutting edge life.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank, including hand-held cordless and corded drills as well as bench-mount drill presses.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck jaws and verify the bit runs true before drilling. Always wear eye protection and secure the workpiece to prevent rotation. When drilling ferrous metals, apply cutting fluid to the tip to reduce heat buildup and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dullness is observed, as a worn point increases thrust and can cause workpiece damage or bit breakage.
