The VALUE COLLECTION JY9036765 is a straight flute tap designed for cutting M18x1 metric fine internal threads in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish, this tap delivers consistent thread geometry in hand-tapping and machine-tapping applications. The bottoming chamfer allows threading to the bottom of blind holes with minimal runout. It carries a 6H class of fit and a D5 thread limit, producing threads suitable for standard metric fine fastener engagement. Overall length is 4-1/32 inches with a thread length of 1-13/16 inches. Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-and-die professionals working in general manufacturing, repair, and fabrication environments.
This tap is suited for blind-hole threading operations where full thread depth close to the hole bottom is required. The four-flute straight configuration works well in short-chipping materials such as cast iron, brass, and free-machining steels. At M18x1 metric fine pitch, it is commonly used in precision mechanical assemblies, automotive components, hydraulic fittings, and industrial machinery where a fine thread pitch provides greater clamping force and vibration resistance compared to coarse pitch. Coolant-through capability is not included, so cutting fluid should be applied externally during operation.
Designed as a standard M18x1 metric fine bottoming tap for use in hand-tap handles, tap wrenches, or machine-tapping chucks that accept the corresponding shank diameter and square drive.
This tap should be installed and operated by machinists or qualified maintenance technicians familiar with tapping procedures and cutting tool safety. Always secure the workpiece and ensure the tap is properly aligned with the pre-drilled pilot hole before beginning threading. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid externally throughout the operation to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life. Do not force the tap if resistance increases suddenly, as this may indicate chip packing or tap breakage risk.
