The VALUE COLLECTION ICR39510M is a solid carbide, uncoated round turning insert designed for metal cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. Carrying ANSI and ISO code RD8P, this insert features a round (R) shape with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 0.125 inch thickness. The bright, uncoated carbide construction suits applications where coating buildup would be a liability or where sharp cutting edges are required without additional thermal treatment. Material grade C5/C6 makes it appropriate for P-grade workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians will find this insert a straightforward drop-in for standard RD-style toolholders with a screw-holding method.
This insert is intended for turning operations on P-grade workpiece materials, which includes carbon steels, alloy steels, and ferritic stainless steels. The round insert shape distributes cutting forces evenly around the edge, extending usable insert life when profiling or finishing curved contours. Negative side clearance geometry is suited to rigid setups where the toolholder provides the relief angle. It is sold individually (package quantity of 1) with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it practical for stocking in toolroom environments or job shops running consistent steel-turning operations.
Designed for use in RD-style screw-clamp turning toolholders that accept an 8P round insert with a 0.125 inch mounting hole. Intended for P-grade primary workpiece materials per ISO material classification.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate — do not overtighten by hand or with standard hex keys without torque control. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw threads for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
