The VALUE COLLECTION ICP72410B is a solid carbide turning insert engineered for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It carries ANSI insert code DCMT21.51 and ISO insert code DCMT070204, conforming to standard toolholder pockets of the same designation. The insert is coated with aluminum oxide (Al2O3) for improved wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. With a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius, it delivers accurate profiling and finishing cuts across a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians specify this insert where consistent edge geometry and coating durability are required.
This insert is suited for light to medium turning operations on non-ferrous metals and non-metallic materials, consistent with primary workpiece material codes K and N. The DCMT style with positive side clearance and a screw-holding method makes it appropriate for light cuts and finishing passes where vibration control and edge security matter. The ICP22 manufacturer grade paired with the Al2O3 coating targets applications where surface finish quality and dimensional accuracy are priorities. It is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 10.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders accepting a 21.51 (ANSI) or 070204 (ISO) size insert with a 0.110-inch hole diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp screws when securing the insert to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert, and confirm the insert is fully seated before resuming cutting operations.
