The VALUE COLLECTION ICP65115B is a solid carbide turning insert designed for metal-cutting lathe and turning center applications. Manufactured to ANSI insert code TPMT32.53 and ISO code TPMT16T312, this insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a positive side clearance and a TiN (titanium nitride) coating for improved wear resistance and tool life. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert thickness is 0.1563 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0469 inches (3/64 inches). It is held in place via a screw-lock insert seat and is suited for general turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers.
This insert is used in precision turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in both job-shop and production environments. It carries primary workpiece material codes M and P, indicating suitability for stainless steel and carbon or alloy steel turning. The TCN55 grade designation identifies the manufacturer carbide grade, and the material grade is classified as C5. Typical applications include external and internal turning, facing, and light profiling passes where a positive-geometry triangular insert is specified.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for toolholders accepting TPMT32.53 (ANSI) or TPMT16T312 (ISO) screw-lock turning inserts with a 0.173-inch hole diameter. Suitable for workpiece materials corresponding to ISO material codes M (stainless steel) and P (carbon and alloy steels).
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC or manual lathes. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle. Inspect the insert pocket and seat for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and runout.
