Product Description

The VALUE COLLECTION ICP62085A is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured to ANSI insert code TPMT32.52 and ISO insert code TPMT16T308, this insert features an Al2O3 (aluminum oxide) ceramic coating that improves wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The triangular 60-degree geometry with a positive side clearance and 11-degree relief angle reduces cutting forces and minimizes workpiece deflection. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert suits medium finishing and light roughing operations. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments rely on this insert type for consistent tool life and repeatable surface finishes.

This turning insert is suited for machining cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and non-metallic materials, corresponding to ISO material group codes K and N. The screw-holding method (insert style TPMT) provides secure clamping in compatible turning toolholders. It is applicable in residential shop environments, production facilities, and general machining operations where dimensional accuracy and surface integrity are priorities. The positive clearance geometry makes it well-suited for finishing passes on softer metals and composites. This insert is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide substrate with Al2O3 ceramic coating for extended wear resistance
  • 60-degree triangular insert shape (TPMT style) with positive side clearance and 11-degree relief angle
  • 3/8-inch (0.3750 inch) inscribed circle with 5/32-inch (0.1563 inch) insert thickness
  • 1/32-inch (0.0313 inch) corner radius suited for medium finishing operations
  • Screw-held mounting method for rigid, repeatable insert positioning
  • Rated for ISO material groups K (cast iron) and N (non-ferrous and non-metallic materials)

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard insert for turning toolholders accepting TPMT32.52 (ISO TPMT16T308) style inserts with a screw-clamp holding method.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machinists and CNC operators using the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the insert screw to the specified clamp torque range indicated by the toolholder manufacturer. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before mounting to ensure full contact and accurate geometry. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended depth of cut or feed rate for this insert size and grade.
