The VALUE COLLECTION ICP62050J is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Conforming to ANSI insert code TCMT21.51 and ISO code TCMT110204, this TCMT-style insert features an Al2O3 (aluminum oxide) ceramic coating that improves wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The 60-degree triangular shape provides three usable cutting edges, and the positive side clearance reduces cutting forces and heat buildup. A 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 3/32-inch insert thickness position this insert in the light-to-medium stock removal range. It is held in place by a screw-lock system and suited for machining non-ferrous and non-metallic workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for turning operations on materials classified under ISO material groups K and N, which include cast irons and non-ferrous metals such as aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and plastics. It is commonly specified in production shops, tool rooms, and job shops where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. The T chip breaker geometry helps control chip flow at moderate feed rates and depths of cut typical of finishing and semi-finishing passes.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-lock turning toolholders that accept a TCMT21.51 (ISO TCMT110204) insert. Best suited for machining ISO material group K (cast iron) and group N (non-ferrous metals and plastics) workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down the machine and engage all safety locks before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the insert clamping screw to ensure consistent seating without cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert.
