The VALUE COLLECTION ICP23031C is a solid carbide milling insert engineered for precision cutting applications in metalworking and machining operations. Manufactured to the SD322D ISO designation, this square-shaped insert carries an ICP55M manufacturer grade and features a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance. With a relief angle of 15 degrees and a 90-degree included angle, the insert delivers clean, controlled cuts across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. It is sized at a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 1/8-inch thickness, making it compatible with standard toolholders designed for the SD322D insert style. Installation is handled by qualified machinists and CNC operators.
This insert is suited for milling applications where a square insert geometry with a D-style chip breaker is specified. The chip breaker geometry manages chip evacuation during face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose material removal. The C5 material grade designation indicates suitability for use on cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and certain steel applications at moderate cutting parameters. The 1/32-inch corner radius helps reduce chipping at the cutting edge while maintaining dimensional accuracy in finished surfaces.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for SD322D-style insert seats in standard milling toolholders and cutter bodies that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle square insert with a 0.1580-inch hole diameter.
Insert seating and torque should follow the toolholder manufacturer specifications; use the correct torque wrench and insert screw supplied or specified for the cutter body. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
