The VALUE COLLECTION HCI52000800 is a partially threaded hex head cap screw designed for heavy-duty bolted connections in structural, mechanical, and industrial applications. This fastener measures 2-4-1/2 inches in thread size with an 8-inch length under the head, and is manufactured from Grade 5 steel with a bright uncoated finish. The UNC (Unified National Coarse) thread standard provides strong thread engagement and is the most common inch-series thread form used in North American fastener applications. Machinists, millwrights, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians install this type of fastener in high-load joint assemblies where a standard hex head wrench drive is required.
This cap screw is suited for use in structural steel assemblies, heavy equipment frames, industrial machinery, and fabricated metal structures where Grade 5 strength and partial threading are specified. Partial threading allows the unthreaded shank to bear shear loads across the joint interface, making it appropriate for applications where full thread engagement is not required or where shear loading is a design consideration. The inch-based dimensional system and UNC thread form ensure compatibility with standard North American tooling and mating hardware.
Designed for use with standard 2-4-1/2 UNC inch-series hex nuts, flat washers, and lock washers in heavy-duty bolted assemblies requiring Grade 5 steel fasteners.
Installation should be performed by qualified millwrights, ironworkers, or maintenance technicians familiar with structural fastener torque requirements per applicable engineering specifications or industry standards such as AISC or ASME. Always degrease or prepare mating surfaces per joint design specifications before assembly. Do not reuse fasteners that have been loaded beyond their yield point or show visible deformation. Use calibrated torque tooling appropriate for the fastener size to achieve proper clamp load.
