The VALUE COLLECTION GH8862401 is a solid pilot counterbore designed for creating precise counterbored holes in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high speed steel, it delivers the hardness and wear resistance needed for production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The tool features a 31/32 inch counterbore diameter, a 21/32 inch standard pilot diameter, and a straight-cylindrical 3/4 inch shank for secure chuck engagement. With 3 flutes and a forward cutting direction, it removes material efficiently while maintaining clean entry geometry. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this tool in drill presses, mills, and CNC machining centers.
This counterbore is suited for standard fastener seating operations where a 5/8 inch fastener size compatibility is required. It is commonly used in general metalworking shops, maintenance and repair operations, and light manufacturing environments. The straight-cylindrical shank fits conventional drill chucks and collet holders without special adapters. It is not configured for aircraft-style applications. Typical use cases include creating flat-bottomed recesses for socket head cap screws and similar hardware in steel, aluminum, and cast materials.
Designed as a standard-pilot solid counterbore for use with 5/8 inch fasteners in general metalworking and machining operations. Compatible with drill presses, knee mills, and machining centers equipped with chucks or collet holders accepting a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolmakers familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet holder and verify runout before cutting. Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped before engaging the tool. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain surface finish quality.
