The VALUE COLLECTION GH8860124 is a solid pilot counterbore designed for creating accurately sized recesses for fillister-head screws in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS), this tool delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed for consistent performance across ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.372 inch counterbore diameter, a 0.215 inch standard pilot diameter, and two flutes that clear chips efficiently during the cut. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.375 inches and seats securely in standard drill press or milling machine chucks. With a 3 inch overall length, this counterbore offers adequate reach for most general-purpose recessing work on the bench or machine table.
This counterbore is suited for machine shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments where fillister-head fasteners are used in assemblies requiring a flush or recessed seating surface. It is compatible with number 12 fastener size applications. Forward cutting direction makes it appropriate for use in drill presses, knee mills, and similar rotary setups where the workpiece is fixtured and the spindle advances into the material. It is a single-piece solid construction tool, meaning no separate pilot insertion is required prior to use.
Designed for use with fillister-head screws in number 12 fastener size applications. Requires a pre-drilled pilot hole sized to accept the 0.215 inch pilot before counterboring.
This tool is installed by a machinist or toolmaker into a drill chuck or collet on a drill press or milling machine. Secure the workpiece firmly before beginning the cut and ensure the pilot hole is pre-drilled to the correct diameter to guide the pilot accurately. Run at an appropriate spindle speed for the workpiece material and use cutting fluid where the material and setup allow. Never use this tool in a handheld drill for counterboring operations where concentricity and depth control are required.
